Justice Technology Services (JTS) provides critical support to the justice sector—the largest sector within the OPS—supporting partners from the judiciary; municipal courts and private bar; regional and municipal government; corrections and emergency, policing and fire services.
We provide I+IT services in partnership with the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ministry of the Attorney General, including their respective Agencies, Boards and Commissions.
We also support the Youth Justice Services Division of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and are one of eight I+IT clusters of the OPS.
This position is with the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) Solutions Branch supporting the Ministry's Court Services Division, Legal Services Division, Criminal Law Division, Victims and Vulnerable Persons Division, and its Agencies, Boards and Commissions. This branch oversees the implementation and management of technology solutions that support MAG's strategic objectives. MAG Solutions Branch is also responsible for Justice Cluster's Architecture strategy, serving as its architecture design authority, and leading the development of a cluster architecture strategy and technology road-map.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • work with a range of people in business and IT to lead and facilitate the development of artefacts used to ensure that security and privacy risks are addressed and effectively managed, changes to business functions, processes, financials, people and organizational structure are optimized with information and technology to support the business strategy
  • undertake architectural artefact development, architectural reviews and comprehensive assessments in support of the development of ministry or enterprise-wide architectures, reference models, systems development projects and/or I&IT support projects
  • provide strategic and authoritative advice to support architecture, policy, procedures and program development
  • provide architecture guidance and support to client ministries, I&IT project managers and solutions designers
  • participate in enterprise-wide and cross jurisdictional architecture projects
How do I qualify?

Information Technology Knowledge: You have:
  • Architecture expertise across all architecture domains (application, technical, information, security, network), including architecture review, assessment, development, implementation and maintenance projects
  • Knowledge of I&IT enterprise architecture (business, technology, applications, security and information) strategies, frameworks, policies, plans, current and emerging enterprise architecture principles, methodologies, mechanisms and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience completing the design and implementation of a secure application architecture that was reviewed through the Architecture Review Process
  • A knowledge of all architecture domains sufficient to evaluate and participate in the development of architecture standards, policies, guidelines and best practices ensuring compliance with cluster, ministry and OPS IT requirements and industry standards
  • Expert knowledge of security, information privacy and risk management concepts to provide practical expertise, ensure integrity of IT business, technology, applications, security or information architecture models and ensure/monitor compliance
  • Experience working with clients/project team to model information and information flows to determine confidentiality, integrity and availability to provide tailored security designs for complex, external facing applications
  • Demonstrated experience designing security and information architectures to protect the integrity and security of highly sensitive personal information.
  • Knowledge and experience in business and technical analysis, planning, processes, modeling, redesign and Threat Risk Assessments/Privacy Impact Assessments (TRA/PIA) to contribute architecture advice and expertise to projects, initiatives, and client solutions.
  • Significant experience leading client sessions to gather information needed to accurately model business program services and create architecture artifacts required to successfully complete corporate gating.
  • Experience in business modelling and creating business architecture artifacts for the Corporate Check Point process
Communication, Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills: You have:
  • Presentation and oral communications skills (speak technical to non-technical people)
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to present and illustrate recommendations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to function in a team-oriented, goal-oriented, and customer-focused environment
Persuasion and Negotiation Skills: You have:
  • Strong persuasion, networking and negotiating skills to assist business and IT teams in assessing security and privacy in strategic planning, development of IT projects.
  • Proven experience in conducting business analysis sessions with clients
  • Proven ability to understand client requirements effectively and clearly in order to articulate and propose effective solutions
Project Management Skills: You have:
  • Knowledge of IT project management policies and methodologies to work on concurrent architecture projects
  • Experience in prioritizing deliverables for architectural artifacts related to more than one project;
  • Experience leading architecture teams and contractors working on specific architecture project activities
