Our National Underwriting team is looking for an ambitious Senior Underwriting Specialist who will utilize their strong portfolio management skills and underwriting experience to provide technical guidance to Sovereign’s Property and Casualty underwriting practices. Take your career to the next level by developing your natural ability to see the big picture, think creatively, and challenge the status quo, while working with some of the industry’s leading professionals. The successful candidate will lead and motivate others to embrace accountability to deliver our exceptional client experience and achieve results.


How you will create impact:

  • Leading or participating in the analysis Property and Casualty underwriting portfolio to drive and maintain profitability.

  • Supporting the design, development, implementation and maintenance of policy wordings, guidelines, online underwriting manuals and resource tools.

  • Participating in the development, implementation and maintenance of corporate underwriting standards, appetite, and philosophy.

  • Leading or participating in the underwriting audit process including follow up support to ensure action plans to address issues identified in the audit occur in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining forms, files, records as well as preparing reports, information and presentations as required.

To join our team:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, with at least 5 at the senior or specialist level.

  • Strong analytical skills and an understanding of portfolio analysis metrics

  • Experience in other lines of business is an asset.

  • Experience training, coaching, and mentoring individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Proven project and change management skills with the ability to deliver on deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Specialized experience in Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale, Warehousing, Transportation an asset.
