Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Machine Operator Trainee for our Calgary Plastics location.

Successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient operation of all warehouse functions including, but not limited to:

  • Daily operation of all material handling equipment.
  • Manage WIP and consumable movement between the warehouse and production.
  • Collect and prepares finished goods for shipping/storage.
  • Receive, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments for damage, tampering, and discrepancies. Report issues to supervisor or designate.
  • Deliver to, or notify, the appropriate department of any received items - including production, maintenance and office staff.
  • Load and unload trailers.
  • Resolve F/G’s labelling and inventory errors prior to product storage or shipment.
  • Properly handle and store all hazardous goods.
  • Organize and maintain North pallet storage area.
  • Organize and maintain Warehouse and WIP storage areas.
  • Stage product for all outbound shipments.
  • Ability to successfully perform all shipping and receiving functions as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Several years of related experience
  • Organizational, communication, and attention to detail skills required.
  • Ability to operate forklift.
  • Computer literacy required.

Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.

Starting wage 25.51 per hour

This position will entail 10 hours shifts Thu-Sun 6:00am-4:30pm. Flexibility will be required to cover shipping department vacations.

This is an excellent opportunity offering competitive wages with step increases at 6,18 & 36 months plus annual increase, company paid benefits after 3 months and a pension plan, all included on the Labour Agreement
