BCAA is hiring a Regular Full-Time Solution Specialist II! Please note that this role is hybrid, based out of our Burnaby, BC office.
The Solution Specialist II provides expert level consulting, technical planning, technical design/architecture, and operational direction; and maintains all business and infrastructure systems demonstrating the latest thinking in agile multi-functional teams of development and operations. The SSII is regarded as the domain guide and makes decisions in situations where there is scope for interpretation of results. The SSII applies guidelines and procedures that leave considerable room for interpretation and recognizes and analyzes problems across projects or domain areas. The SSII is a validated problem solver and is always willing to share their knowledge with others.

Key Responsibilities
Production Support and Troubleshooting
  • Design and implement and support redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of all data assets.
  • Expert when crafting, building, installing, configuring, and supporting Windows Active Directory.
  • Analyze and address sophisticated technical support incidents and problems in all environments
Infrastructure Tasks
  • Workload automation in a hybrid Environment (On Prem + AWS Cloud)
  • Implementation of security, identity, and access management: IAM in AWS and SSO in Azure
  • Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows).
  • Expertise with Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking
  • Designs and supplies code and automation scripting (IE PowerShell, Python or Cloud Formation) as needed to assist in development value streams and automation of infrastructure services.
Project Tasks
  • Plan and coordinate system migrations, upgrade systems and support of operational business requirements
  • Plan, deploy and support a Hybrid/ AWS systems as per project requirements.
Process Improvement
  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production systems in conjunction with application and business owners.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on new technologies, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Basic monitoring techniques in a constantly evolving environment
  • Advocates for design to ensure new technologies, processes and frameworks are leveraged to enable value driven automation.
  • Chips in to the development and implementation of business cases in order to meet business needs and/or achieve operational efficiency

Qualifications:

Education
  • Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, OR Post graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering with related AWS certifications. Microsoft knowledge considered a plus.
Experience
  • 7+ years of Experience in IT or Information Systems
  • 4+ years in System Administration in Windows/Linux in Hybrid environments
  • 3+ years of experience in AWS systems administration/Engineering
Other Skills / Qualifications
  • Technical experience with Infrastructure Technologies such as On-Prem datacenter NetApp, Cisco UCS, VMWARE, Core Networking
  • Technical experience on cloud technologies of AWS – EC2, EMR, S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, IAM
  • Technical experience on Azure/O365 Platform services - Azure Conditional Access and Identity services, O365 Services
  • Proficient in networking and network security standard methodologies
  • Take part in evolving CI (Continuous Improvement)/CD (Continuous Delivery and IAC (Infrastructure as Code) initiative
  • Outstanding teammate with a good sense of ownership
  • Knowledge of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), Operating Level Agreements (OLA’s)
  • Very proficient in Windows System Administration including, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
  • Excellent Documentation Skills
