TAQQUT PRODUCTIONS INC. is an Inuit-owned film production company located in Iqaluit, Nunavut and Toronto, Ontario. Our films have screened at festivals in eighteen countries and have won over twenty international awards. With its film and television projects, Taqqut has established itself as an innovative leader in Northern youth and children’s productions and aims to preserve the rich storytelling culture of Inuit and the North.

We are seeking a highly organized and self-directed Sound Engineer. This position reports to the line producer and the studio owners. You will be responsible for sound recording, editing, mastering, etc. You will guarantee the quality of the deliverables to reach the objectives defined by the production. You will work closely with the Line Producer, Producers and Departments Supervisors.

Please note that we will only be contacting applicants who are residents of the province of Ontario or territory of Nunavut. This is an in-office position (either Iqaluit, Nunavut or Toronto, Ontario).

The Sound Engineer will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Sound recording, editing, mastering, etc.
  • Responsible for foley.
  • Assisting with scoring.
  • Responsible for staff training with audio software and equipment as needed.
  • Project management
  • Administrative tasks as required.
  • All other tasks required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in Pro Tools.
  • Experience in Adobe Audition.
  • Experience with live audio recording.
  • Knowledge of audio equipment (microphones, audio interfaces, etc.).
  • Knowledge of software such as Google Suite, Frame.io, and Vimeo.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in the film and television industry, preferably in an office setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands.
  • Willingness and interest in developing new skills.
  • Comfort in taking directions from supervisors.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $24.00-$30.00 per hour

  • Monday to Friday
