Structural Engineer

Full-time, In-office- Hamilton, ON

We are looking for a Structural Engineer who takes great pride in their ability to design new, innovative, and progressive buildings. Structural engineering is one of the core disciplines in the service offerings. This person will be responsible for designing and developing high-rise residential, hotels, institutional, industrial, and commercial building projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing feasible structural solutions for complex projects using different materials such as concrete, wood, steel, and masonry
  • Conducting site visits to gather information on proposed projects
  • Analyzing different structural elements to determine their strength, stability, and other physical characteristics
  • Collaborating with the team, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and designers to ensure the design is feasible and meets the requirements of the project
  • Reviewing and approving construction plans, specifications, and other technical documents
  • Ensuring that the construction adheres to the design standard and specification
  • Providing technical assistance to clients and other stakeholders regarding project specifications, cost estimates, and construction timelines
  • Conducting research and staying up to date with the latest construction industry trends and technological advancements in structural engineering

Requirements:

  • Must have a Civil Engineering degree or a closely related field of study; P.Eng. is strongly desired
  • Must have relevant experience of at least 5 years working in the structural engineering field within a design role specifically
  • Knowledge in designing and analyzing structures using different construction materials such as concrete, wood, steel, and masonry
  • Must know ETABS/ S-FRAME software tools
  • Ability to use different computer-aided design software (CAD) and other structural analysis tools
  • Ideally has knowledge of high-rise residential design
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other professionals and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively
  • Must be familiar with the relevant building codes and regulations related to structural engineering
  • Strong Math Skills
  • Valid G License
