Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration the Student support services/Finance Clerk will serve as an academic and financial administrative assistant, performing various duties for students studying at the Kivalliq Campus of Nunavut Arctic College. Duties include processing applications and registrations, ensuring all student credits are received and transferred accurately, receiving, and filing program applications. In addition, the incumbent receives and forwards applications for financial assistance and provides the data entry services for student attendance. The student support services/finance clerk is also responsible, when required, for the receipt and distribution of invoices, verifying, incoming financial documents and assisting in the daily processing of the Kivalliq Campus accounting activities.

Applicants to the position should have knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and filing system; Operation and use of micro-computers working with Word perfect, excel & PowerPoint; Ability to correspond effectively with e-mail, using Microsoft Outlook or First Class; Ability to learn and interpret regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures; Ability to work without daily direction and to initiate activities independently.

The ideal candidate will have Grade 12 or equivalent, plus Certification in Office Administration, Management Studies or similar post-secondary programs.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
