Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the incumbent leads SAP planning function in plant accountable for planning/scheduling production, analyzing supply chain data in support of decision-making and problem-solving for the plants and region. The position leads and actions executional support for the region as well as the national planning team and key stakeholders throughout the business. In this position the planner is responsible for short term capacity and supply planning in the plants and warehouses (nucleus), analyzing information as a data-driven decision maker. The position ensures continuity of supply and initiates pro-active risk management communicating risk and contingency plans leveraging business intelligence to optimize cost. The Planner III may have direct reports to lead and supervise.

  • Business Intelligence: Synthesize data, identify problems throughout operation and problem-solve using financial acumen to improve operational and financial performance collaborating with key stakeholders.

  • Production Capacity Planning & Scheduling: Maintain finished goods availability using SAP (or ERP system) for short-term capacity planning in order to support the operational plans and customer demand of the plant actualizing business continuity and implementing proactive risk management as needed. Optimize capacity plan using statistical models to design min/max/re-order levels. Knowledge of asset management procedures and co-manufacturing, policies and information used to optimize levels and/or fill rates (e.g., balance inventory levels against inventory carrying costs).
  • Inventory Management: Maintain finished goods inventory levels within the parameter set by inventory policy, monitoring levels continuously making adjustments to future purchases as necessary while monitoring “age of stock” reports to avoid risk of slow moving and obsolete material.
  • Forecasting – Demand: knowledge of demand forecasting techniques and inputs (e.g. business trends, seasonality, consumption patterns).
  • New Items & Sunsets; Coordinate production planning and material requirements for all new product and package launches at the plants. Coordinate run out of materials and/or ingredients for all package sunsets at the plans.
  • Master Data: Understand the importance of master data and the impact it has on driving the MRP/DRP process in conjunction with ability to identify gaps in master data that are driving sub-optimal MRP results.

Duties:

  • Maintain continuity of supply through creating and maintaining short term production/supply plans.
  • Collaborate with Forecast COE, Demand Planning, and Region teams to identify upcoming risks proactively to determine contingencies.
  • Host and Facilitate daily call and discussion with Co-Packer/Plants collaborating and gaining alignment. Maintain key performance metrics, analyzing service levels, & finances – Attainment, Run Rates, USLE, ABP, Change Drivers, BD&L etc.
  • Manage Warehouse capacity, identifying short-term contingency plans, & collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Process Planning File daily & critically analyze incorporating business intelligence Short-Term Capacity Planning at SKU level in weekly cadence, with 13-week forecasted production volume.
  • Manage & coordinate Meeting Agenda/File for daily co-packer/plant calls - analyzing capacities & considering in transits, past due, open orders, and any ingredient or materials concerns for the upcoming week preparing contingency plans & pro-active risk management discussions.
  • Prepare and facilitate tactical contingency plans, & pro-active risk management for materials collaborating with key stakeholders – extensions, transportation, resequencing production plan, scenario planning etc.
  • Master data clean-up / validation - BOMs, Priorities, Pckg Changes, Reformulation, Promos, MD updates for Co-packers
  • Ad Hoc Hot Spot – Problem Solving: Recalibrate with key stakeholders, Scenario Modeling, Re-planning/resequencing for orbit.
  • Executing regional projects within orbit supporting region/operations– process improvement, optimization, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing

Software Skills:

Information Systems – Knowledge and use of SAP and including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power BI generating data, reports, and data analysis. Ability to access, analyze and utilize information in a manner that adds value to the organization. Ability to propose system enhancements based on business needs.

Qualifications & Requirements Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in supply management, logistics, business management, industrial engineering or related work experience.
  • Work Experience at least 5 years in supply chain or supply planning working for a large organization or diverse portfolio of products.
  • APICS/CSMCP certification preferred
