We are looking for a support service worker to join our amazing team in one of our beautiful care facilities.

Previous experience working with the senior community is preferred but not required.

Position Details: Casual position with multiple shift options available - Days, Evenings, Nights
Compensation: $20.97 - $22.58 per hour

This position will require cross training in 3 different departments: Kitchen, Laundry, Housekeeping.

Kitchen Duties

• Performs all duties in relation to the serving and distribution of food. Ensures that food is served in accordance with the dietary requirements of the residents.
• Strips, racks, and washes items such as dishes, pots, pans and utensils; operates dishwashing machine; stacks clean dishes and utensils; sets, clears, and cleans dining tables.
• Makes beverages and food items such as tea, coffee, and toast; assembles items such as sandwiches and salads.
• Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and damp mopping floors, cleaning counter tops, sinks, machines and equipment and spot washing walls and splash areas; removes garbage as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Laundry Duties

• Pick up, sort and wash laundry using approved methods and chemicals.
• Dry laundry using commercial dryers.
• Fold and sort laundry.
• Label by using electrical label maker.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Housekeeper Duties

• Clean areas such as floors, walls, windows and walkways.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms and replenish items such as soaps and towels.
• Maintains, tidies and cleans all common areas and residents private rooms.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have

• Food safety certificate (preferred)
• WIMIS certificate (preferred)
• Previous long-term care experience (preferred)
• Cultural education and experience are preferred.

While the SSO is in place, you will be limited to working with only one employer and at only one (1) private long-term care hospital (facility), licensed long-term care facility, registered assisted living facility, stand-alone extended care hospital or provincial mental health facility. Unless regional clustering applies. Regional clustering allows you to, within the same region and in agreement with the facility, hold a position as permanent with one (1) employer and hold a casual position with one (1) additional employer. You may hold only one (1) permanent position, one (1) additional casual position and must not work outside of your regional cluster.
