Job Summary


The role of Expert Solution and System Integration is responsible for the successful deployment of advanced Telecom infrastructure, systems, and services. The Expert designs the solution and ensures that all business requirements are met by project team members, and contributes to the global evolution of CN’s I&T. The Expert is a key player in the organization, ensuring the telecom technology delivered is secure, reliable, available, resilient, performant, and aligned with safety standards per business requirements, thus aligned with the architecture high-level solution


Main Responsibilities


Technical Leadership

  • Creates blueprints and detailed functional designs (technical low-level design) based on existing patterns and solution architecture documents
  • Estimates the overall solution costs (e.g., telecom, labor, vendor/partner, infrastructure, development, etc.) and share information with the Project Manager and stakeholders
  • Creates technical diagrams
  • Establishes deployment/migration strategy and guide project team and operations
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize/improve current solutions
  • Works with Project Managers during the planning, build and deployment phases and identify challenges and associated mitigations
  • Analyzes test results to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Engages with internal customers to capture functional and non-functional requirements
  • Documents properly solution designs, deployment instructions, test procedures, test reports, etc.
  • Follow the Change and Release Management processes by initiating Change Controls and executing cut-over plans
  • As required travel to visit field sites and participate to solution deployment working with internal customers/users

Technology Innovation Leadership

  • Assists product managers to define the roadmap (hardware & software) based on CN strategy & I&T technology needs
  • Continuously assesses technical and deployment challenges and report proposals to upper management
  • Lead POC/POT in Lab to test new solutions, configurations, and software
  • Works with procurement team and with vendors/partners to resolve issues and address present and upcoming requirements
  • Investigates incidents through root-cause analysis and propose solutions for remediation
  • Develops strong partnerships with Architecture, delivery and operations teams to provide feedback on deployment challenges/gaps
  • Translate the technology solution architecture into engineering standards & specifications


People Leadership

  • Engages & lead other technical teams to overview the success of the overall solution delivery
  • Provides guidance, training, documentation about the solution and on required deployment tasks to integrators, testers and operation teams
  • Drives design decisions that span multiple domains & teams
  • Performs upper management technical presentations
  • Supports and supervises change controls done by less experienced team members
  • Leads activities to transfer new solutions to the Operational Support teams (T2C)


Technology Specifics

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant technical experience in design and implementation of Telecom CORE Access and Data Center end-to-end solutions
  • 3+ years of software development experience in the networking domain and open-source network automation systems.
  • Expertise in LAN/WAN technologies (Complex Routing IS-IS, DMVPN, Switching, QoS, VLAN attachments, Cloud Routing, BGP/VPC peerings - including Google-managed VPCs-, SPNs
  • Good understanding of Security (Zoning, VLAN, VPRN, IPS/IDS, etc.)
  • Infrastructure automation experience(Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Python etc.)
  • Experience using API’s to automate configuration and management of networking equipment..


Assets:

  • Technical certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP – CCIE)
  • Cisco Data Center solutions
  • Google Cloud Platform


Requirements

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field of study, or equivalent work experience


Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to precisely estimate efforts and costs of a given project
  • Leadership skills and ability to influence and guide others on technical matters and methodology
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and meet deliverables dates
  • Very good technical documentation skills
  • Very good communication (verbal and writing) and presentation skills
  • Proven experience delivering technology projects involving multiple parties
  • Ability to clarify requirements and ensure solution meets business needs
  • Strong sense or prioritization for meeting deadlines
  • Fluent in English and intermediate level in French


Working Conditions

  • This role may require occasional business travel in accordance with CN policy for meetings, for field site deployment activities or to attend industry events or conferences
  • This role supports a 24/7 environment
