Truck Driver

Job Summary:

The Truck Driver supports the operations side of the business during the winter and summer months including duties associated with construction, maintenance, and water delivery throughout the District.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate an EID tri-axle truck with jeep and lowbed trailer, with the ability to load and unload heavy equipment.
  • Operate an EID truck and trailer/pup.
  • Operate other heavy-duty equipment when necessary.
  • Working with others, load and unload materials or equipment required for use in the District and ensure proper securing of these materials or equipment.
  • Obey all local, provincial and federal rules and regulations (traffic signs; National Safety Code, etc.).
  • Ensure that required permits are obtained; complete any required logs for scale/gravel haul tickets.
  • Perform ongoing and regular maintenance on equipment; maintain vehicle log and reports on a daily basis.
  • Communicate regularly with other District staff to co-ordinate activities that support the construction, maintenance and water delivery services throughout the District.
  • Ensure the District vehicle is kept in proper working order and report any problems to the District Mechanic.
  • Relate to and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, management, and others sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly and courteously; respond to inquiries and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at regular safety tailgate meetings, being properly trained and completing work in a safe manner.
  • Performs tasks, consistent with the position, as may be required on an ad hoc basis.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a Class 1 drivers’ license with air endorsement.
  • Must be able to produce a current driver’s abstract and clean criminal records report.
  • Must be able to operate a loader; ability to operate other heavy-duty equipment would be an asset.
