Position Overview

The incumbent must be flexible in performing installations, repair and maintenance of building site components and equipment and assisting multi-trade persons as required, regardless of trade or craft. Generally fits the category described as a handyperson or utilityperson, not being restricted to any one trade or craft.

Experience

  • 5 years experience as a handyperson, utilityperson, or trades helper, or mechanical apprentice preferred
  • Previous experience in a Hospital/institutional setting preferred

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade XII Manitoba Standards minimum required

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Safe driving record, minimum Class 5 required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Mechanical dexterity for the effective performance of job duties
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a computerized office system environment

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health to meet position demands

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
