Call for Volunteers to Join our Board of Directors
The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), York Region Branch is dedicated to our vision of “mentally healthy people in a healthy society.” We facilitate access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. We value cultural competency as a critical element in providing the best client service, volunteer and work experience. We also foster diversity, equity and inclusion grounded in anti-racism and anti-oppression practices, using a harm reduction and trauma-informed lens.
The Ideal Candidate
For this position on our Board of Directors, we are seeking an individual who:
- Time to commit to regular meetings and review materials in advance of meetings
- Diversity of thought and culture
- Passion and commitment to change in our community
- Desire to serve as ambassadors, strategic advisors, donors and champions
- A connection to our community (i.e. live or work in York Region or South Simcoe)
- Experience in government/community relations and philanthropy.
We also encourage those with care experience with CMHA York Region & South Simcoe within the past two years, either as a client or as a primary caregiver to a client to apply.
Requirements & Competencies:
Candidates must be willing to
- comply with CMHA’s policies; and
- provide a police record check
