Reporting to the Supervisor, Operations - Wastewater, this position performs all aspects of the day to day work activities of the Wastewater Operations. With the support of the wastewater treatment Senior Operator this position is responsible to operate, maintain and troubleshoot the three Wastewater Treatment Facilities, their associated pumping stations and collection system. Key accountabilities are to perform work functions and operations while ensuring compliance as to the regulations governing Wastewater Treatment.

Responsibilities:
Perform all aspects of work related to the operation and maintenance of all wastewater treatment facilities and their lift stations.

Interpret SCADA trending and make operational changes as required. Check clarifier, aeration, return and wasting rates, lagoons, pumps and lab equipment. Perform all aspects of sampling and laboratory analysis. Ensure documentation of all operational changes are accurate and are recorded in the facilities daily log book.

Maintain compliance as per the treatment plant’s ECA requirements and MECP regulations.

Perform the duties and responsibilities of “Operator in Charge” (OIC) as defined by the Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) and as per O/Reg.129.

Work in compliance with the Corporate Health and Safety Policy and all other corporate policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Responsible for filling out service requests and daily work orders using CityWorks.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent, plus additional, relevant education or training required to obtain Class 1-4 licence.

Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 Wastewater Treatment licence per O.Reg 129/04, s 14 (1).

Class 1 or 2 Wastewater Collection licence per O.Reg 129/04, s 14 (1).

DZ driver’s licence, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.

Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, or ability to obtain.

At least 1-4 years of experience as an operator

Class 3 or 4 Operators also require at least 2 years as an Operator-In-Charge (OIC) in a Class 2-4 facility, in accordance with the years of experience outlined in O.Reg 129/04 Schedule 2 ‘Qualifications for Operator’s Licenses’.

Must be capable of passing a fit test.

Experience operating a back-hoe, dump truck and power/flusher vac would be considered an asset.

Intermediate computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams and OneDrive), Cityworks computerized maintenance management system, SCADA, and the internet.

Salary: Ranges below based on licences, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan

$53,575.44 - $66,948.04 (Class 1)

$60,548.75 - $75,685.94 (Class 2)

$66,601.60 – $83,262.40 (Class 3)

$69,638.40 - $87,048.00 (Class 4)
