Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative leader for the position of Wellness & Engagement Coordinator to engage in the integration of programs and initiatives to promote and foster the well-being of staff and medical staff at HSN and Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI). The individual will develop a wellness and engagement culture through the coordination of resources and develop alliances within the organization and the community.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in a health care or business administration field from an accredited university. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare environment and three (3) years’ experience of project/program coordinator is required. KEY FUNCTION:

Engage in the integration of programs and initiatives to promote and foster the well-being of staff and medical staff at HSN and Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI). Work to develop a wellness and engagement culture through the coordination of resources and develop alliances within the organization and the community.


REPORTING:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Leadership and Learning.


DUTIES:

  • Develop a Wellness and Engagement Strategy in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Implement, facilitate and monitor the Wellness and Engagement Program in consultation with the Manager and in collaboration with Occupational Health and Safety Service (OHSS).
  • Create and maintain a schedule of activities/events/information/education for implementation and monitor and adjust as required.
  • Guide and conduct information sessions, awareness and knowledge building related to specific wellness, engagement, recognition strategies and mentorship as required to enhance and support staff and medical staff.
  • Consult with various stakeholders to put into action strategies and initiatives in accordance with the Wellness strategy to ensure inclusive and diverse programming.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to build community alliances and define partnerships to support health, wellness, engagement and recognition.
  • Engage in and foster professional development, and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/organizations/community groups to achieve program objectives, integrate and link services and foster partnerships across the continuum of service delivery.
  • Initiate, coordinate, implement and evaluate Health and Wellness projects, grants and research studies.
  • Identify the need for developing, coordinating and conducting training on a variety of health topics with a particular focus on Health and Wellness in the Workplace.
  • Collaborate with Communications team to develop and prepare appropriate written, video and social media communication materials (i.e. reports, educational pamphlets, brochures and posters, and social media messages).
  • Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
  • Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
  • Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
  • Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in a health care or business administration field, from an accredited University.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a health care environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of project/program coordination experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff, physicians and stakeholders to build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, program planning, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and coordinate project activities within set timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence employees, supervisors, and groups towards positive health change.
  • Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
