To assist youth in conflict with the law, 12 to 17 years of age, in a secure custody facility. Transports youth to and from various court appearances, medical and dental appointments, and transfers between custody facilities; safeguards the youth’s health, privacy, and legal rights while being transported.

University degree preferred and/or community college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in psychology, criminology, social work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with high-risk youth. Experience transporting high-risk youth or young persons in conflict with the law.

Candidates for the Residential Full-Time Bailiff/Youth Justice Worker should possess a positive philosophy, strong counseling, and interpersonal skills, the ability to implement cognitive behavioural programs with adolescents, and superior organization and computer skills.

Mandatory requirements for application of a Residential Bailiff/YJW:

  • Criminal reference check declared suitable for vulnerable sector employment,
  • Up-to-date Immunization status according to national standards, including proof of prior Two-step TB testing.
  • Covid-19- second dose and boosters
  • Current First Aid / CPR-C certificate
  • Valid class G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Knowledge of court procedures and various warrants
  • Comfortable with long-distance driving
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a physician’s note indicating their fitness to work as per the job description within 10 days prior to hire.
  • Bilingualism and volunteer experience are assets.

Applicants for a Residential Full-Time Bailiff/Youth Justice Worker must be available to attend a mandatory training period (anticipated start June, fully paid days, exact dates TBA) and be able to work a shift schedule consisting of immediate call-in and predetermined shifts, including days, evenings, alternate weekends and on-call.

Wage: $47,424.00 annually.
