Accounting Job at Binance

We are looking for an accounting intern to join our Canada team and work with our Accounting Department to oversee our organization’s expenses as well as perform general office duties for our Calgary office.

The accounting intern will work under the mentorship and direction of the Controller and Manager, Treasury & Internal Controls to carry out various accounting and finance duties. This internship is designed as an opportunity to develop and enhance accounting and finance skills in a real-world working environment.

The position in based in Calgary, AB with a flexible working arrangement.

Responsibilities:

    • Review and record invoices from vendors in Oracle NetSuite to ensure appropriate internal approvals, accuracy in billing, and maintain vendor files.
    • Keep track of all payments and expenditures and maintain historical records.
    • Ensure vendors and staff expenses are paid on a timely basis.
    • Prepare and record various journal entries within the accounting system.
    • Participate in period-end close activities such as updating various schedules, preparing reconciliations, etc.
    • Assist with and internal/external audit requirements and requests.
    • Complete various expense forms, including purchase requisitions, fixed asset requests, travel expense reports and requests for payment.
    • Organize and maintain departmental documents on the shared drive for easy access.
    • Provide organizational support for company meetings and corporate functions.
    • Willingness to assist and undertake special assignments, projects, and additional tasks on a wide variety of issues as requested by the Accounting Department.

Requirements:

    • Must currently be pursuing a Bachelor's degree or certificate in Finance, Accounting or equivalent program from an accredited college or university.
    • Basic knowledge of general accounting principles.
    • Strong organization and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain professional, friendly, and cordial relationships with stakeholders, including team members, other departments, and external partners.
    • Resourceful team-player with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
