Reporting to the Manager of Finance and IT Services, the Administrative Assistant (Accounting) is responsible for the effective completion of delegated responsibilities including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management and Banking, and the administration of resident related financial transactions. The incumbent maintains an effective professional relationship with multiple stakeholders including site management and staff, residents and their families.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Processes Accounts Payable in accordance with the Foundation’s policies and processes
  • Coordinates Accounts Receivable in accordance with the Foundation’s policies and processes
  • Manages Petty Cash and reconciles banking transactions
  • Performs transactions related to accommodation and other services provided to residents
  • Performs Other Accounting Responsibilities related to the processing and entering of data
  • Assists in creating a safe, healthy, productive and caring environment for residents and staff

Formal Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma required in a relevant field (Accounting, Finance etc.)
  • Minimum two (2) years of progressive accounting and financial experience.
  • Work experience within Health Care settings is considered an asset..

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Accounting Software such as Sage/QuickBooks/Simply Accounting.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Positive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use excellent professional judgement and to act as a mentor and role model to all staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for leadership and progression in career.
  • Provides evidence of professional development.

Ability to communicate in Cantonese/Mandarin will be considered an asset.

All employees are required to submit a criminal record check that includes a Vulnerable Sector check.

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 0800-1615H

Starting Salary will commensurate based on Education and Experience.

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
