Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides support to Client Services by responding to a large volume of incoming calls, taking required action and booking patient appointments
  • Answers and responds to requests for Patient Appointment Line (PAL) services
  • Schedules appointments based a complex set of criteria such as length of testing, time of day, type of test ordered. Identifies patients that require short notice appointment by listening for key conditions, testing type and asking appropriate questions Provides information/support to patients on web-based appointment booking

  • Ability to handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively, given exposure to continual interruptions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations
  • Good judgement/decision making ability in order to handle calls appropriately without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours of work and location
  • Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally
  • Flexibility to meet operational requirements including hours or work
  • Presents a pleasant, professional manner at all times


Required Experience

    • Current experience in the Provincial Appointment Line department within the last 6 months is required
    • Proficiency using QMe and ICEbar software is required
    • Basic knowledge of MS Office suite
    • Current experience in a call-centre environment is required
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
    • Knowledge of the Laboratory Information System

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
