Essential Job Functions:

Reporting to the Director, Safety & Security/Harbour Master, this multi-disciplined position will be responsible for a variety of administration and port security tasks, including:

• Administration: Process security card applications; maintain filing system for applications; complete filing system audits; manage the port security email account
• Port Security: Conduct mobile inspections and/or audits of the port properties; ensure security awareness and vigilance in the Port and marine facilities; immediately report security threats and incidents to the appropriate channels; respond to and investigate emergency incidents/situations and direct third-party responders
• Ship Traffic Control: As a Traffic Control Officer under the CMA, communicate with vessels via marine VHF radio on behalf of the Director, Safety & Security and ensure the safe movement of vessels in the harbour; assign berths

Please note, the hours for this position are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8am-4pm; Tuesday/Thursday 7am-3pm.

Education and Special Skills:

Must Have’s:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a security related position
• Valid Province of Ontario Driver’s License
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Technical/Community College
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Nice to Have’s:

• Pleasure Craft Operator Card
• VHF Marine Radio Operator’s Certificate
• Law & Security/Police Foundations

To be considered for this position, the applicant must pass various criminal/security background checks.

Salary Range

Starting salary of $55,000-59,000; commensurate with experience.
