NOTE: This posting represents a contract position for the duration of one year.

SCOPE
Reporting to the Associate Director, Cyber Security Operations, the incumbent will manage and contribute to the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of information security. They are responsible for the physical protection of assets, information technology access control systems and information protection, which includes network security architecture, network access and monitoring policies. The incumbent leads the establishment of test beds and validate tool functionality and make recommendations on future improvements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up a testbed infrastructure to run a cybersecurity monitoring platform in a virtualized environment.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of an integrated platform for cybersecurity monitoring.
  • Participate to solution architecture review and ensure security requirements are met.
  • Perform IT security audit and lead vulnerability assessment, monitor audit corrective action plan.
  • Define IT security standards.
  • Monitor IT security risks and produce reports (e.g., risk report, monthly dashboards).
  • Monitor external technology security risks (e.g., virus vulnerabilities) and review technology trends.
  • Provide security monitoring procedures and ensure IT staff monitor systems on a regular basis.
  • Identify objectives and metrics consistent with the strategic plan.
  • Work with outside consultants when required for independent security audits.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with four to seven years of experience programming in python and other programming languages as well as scripting.
  • Experience in developing and deploying with Kibana, elastic search, and/or AWS OpenSearch.
  • Experience setting up testbeds in a virtualization environment.
  • Experience with threat intelligence production, analysis, and exploitation.
  • Experience with incident response and digital investigation.
  • Understanding of the analytical mapping methods (MITRE ATT&CK Framework and/or the Cyber Kill Chain).
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and UNIX operating systems.
  • Strong technical understanding of IT fundamentals and core cybersecurity related principals.
  • Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining harmonious relations with co-workers.
  • Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English and French language skills.
  • Able to work with various investigation bodies.
  • Experience with telemetry analysis using machine learning is an asset.
  • Certified Security Professional certified (SSCP, CISSP, GIAC or other recognized security certification) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of international security standards and best practices (ISO27001, FISMA) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Quebec’s law « Loi sur la protection des renseignements personnels » and Canadian law (Privacy Act, PIPEDA) are assets.
