Financial and Corporate Services is looking for an Application and Infrastructure Analyst II working with a team of IT experts into a realm of new and existing technology.

  • Perform complex end-to-end delivery/design and maintenance for systems within the scope of expertise
  • Write script/application to query databases and exchange data with other systems
  • Able to function effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment that regularly requires the ability to multitask.
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness and understanding of new and enhanced technological developments and ensure customers stay informed
  • Provide advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools in adherence to policies and standards
  • Acts as a specialized resource with deep skills in their team's specific technology(s). The assignment involves complex technology requirements which are generally not well defined, require thorough analysis, ingenuity, and problem determination to develop and deliver current technological solutions
  • Maintain application support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures
  • Monitor and respond to application or infrastructure related issues that impact application performance, performs diagnostic and problem-solving activities to implement remedial procedures as required
  • Understand and build/demonstrate a plan around sustainment activities within the application that ensure the application maintains it’s critical contractual obligations to maintain support
  • Create training strategies by working with vendors and the knowledge management team
Qualifications:
  • Degree in a Computer Science and 4 years relevant experience; OR Post secondary diploma in Software Development related fields or a related discipline and 5 years relevant experience OR 1 year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED is a requirement
  • Other technology specific certifications and diplomas related to the work are considered an asset
  • Experience providing 24x7 on-call support to a mission-critical application or system
  • Technical experience in a computing environment similar to the City of Edmonton's would be an asset, including environments that have:
    • Complex and highly diverse data, application and technology environments
    • Hybrid environment of cloud and on-premise data, applications, and technologies
    • Experience with Aqua Ascent, ProQA, XLerator, Target 911/BeeOn, ANI/ALI, CODE-STAT Suite, DTExpress, LiveMum, Telestaff and PLSQL would be considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years experience supporting I/CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), EdgeFrontier and Mobile for Public Safety (MPS)
  • Understanding of performance monitoring tools and procedures, and automated testing procedures would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with a strong focus on customer service, and the ability to excel within a team environment
  • Ability to perform complex end-to-end system integration, solution delivery and maintenance
  • Understanding City of Edmonton IT architectural standards, processes, and procedures is considered an asset
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and the ability to present ideas, recommendations, and proof of concepts to senior levels
  • Understanding of “secure-by-design” methodologies, and least privileged access concepts
  • Skillful application of analytical, creativity, judgment, and initiative skills
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and handle tight deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborate with others
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Up to one (1) permanent full-time position

Hours of Work: The successful candidate may choose between the following:

  • 33.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: $48.106 - $61.389 (hourly), $84,750.750 - $108,152.070 (annually)

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: $45.462 to 58.014 (hourly), $94,923.98 to $121,133.53 (annually)

Note: This position is eligible to participate in the City of Edmonton’s Hybrid Work Arrangement program.
