The Canadian Operations Team has an excellent opportunity for an Apprentice Millwright or Mechanic. The successful candidate will be actively involved in maintenance, equipment optimization, and start-up and commissioning of equipment in the Dawson Creek area.
The current work schedule is 4 days on and 3 days off. There may be a requirement to change shift schedules to provide adequate coverage in the future.
This role is based out of the Dawson Creek area and is targeted for a recent graduate or 2023 graduate.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining area mechanical equipment including various liquid pumps, air compressors, power generation, Caterpillar 3600 and 3400 series engines, Waukesha engines, various gas compressors, plus other site mechanical equipment.
- Assist in general maintenance of Dresser Rand Centrifugal compressors and dry gas seals.
- Maintain proper documentation of services, overhauls, preventative work and repair records as required.
- Utilize Maximo/Computerized Maintenance Management System. Making sure work orders and preventative maintenance tasks are up to date.
- Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response.
- Utilize, improve, and help author procedures for work practices.
- Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant and associated areas as required.
- Maintain effective communication with operations, maintenance, and management.
- Ensure ongoing personal development and performance improvement including job progression, site specific training, and process training.
- Participate in and identify and assess opportunities to improve safety, reliability, and maintenance costs.
Qualifications
- A strong mechanical or operating background and commitment to proactive maintenance.
- Required to complete certification through Alberta/BC Apprenticeship training.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work in a team atmosphere and to take on a variety of maintenance and operating challenges.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the Ovintiv’s Alcohol and Drug policy which includes pre-assignment testing.
