The Opportunity

Within the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training, the Immigration Services Branch is seeking an Assistant Supervisor, Client Engagement, for a 12-month term to work within the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) Economic Immigration Unit. Working in a fast-paced, customer service environment the Assistant Supervisor, Client Engagement, shares the supervision of the Client Engagement Officers while providing front line customer service to clients and potential clients. You will be a member of the management-supervision team assisting to identify program trends, issues and recommend improvements to help make the program more efficient to meet customer service standards and file processing targets.


Reporting to the Manager, Economic Immigration, your responsibilities will include:

  • Shared supervision of Client Engagement Officers, including scheduling, time approval, training of current and new staff on a continuous basis;
  • Approval and rejection of applications to the SINP;
  • Oversee, advise and provide responses and direction to Client Engagement Officers and clients on issues related to client applications, inquiries, application processing, and inquiries in all processing areas;
  • Identifying common problems, researching causes and recommending solutions to changes for application processing and tracking;
  • Review public facing materials to ensure that they are effective and information provided is consistent and accurate; and
  • Liaise and work in collaboration with other provincial and federal government areas to ensure program efficiencies and positive outcomes for clients.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have the ability to:

  • Clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, complex ideas with senior officials, internal and external clients, and colleagues;
  • Effectively supervise, lead, and coach staff while maintaining a harmonious and co-operative work environment with your knowledge of human resource practices;
  • Identify situations impacting SINP program delivery and problem-solve for improvement;
  • Assess complex and sometimes conflicting data/information and relay that information to various stakeholders in a way that fosters their understanding of the issue; and
  • Utilize a variety of program and other data to put forward recommendations to enhance the SINP applications, policies, procedures, acts, regulations and guidelines.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a 1-year certificate/diploma in a business or office administration, commerce, economics or social science program, basic accounting knowledge. Supervisory and coaching training or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
