Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Operates company's internal data communications systems
  • Plans, designs and implements local and wide-area network solutions between multiple platforms and protocols (including IP and VOIP)
  • Supports/troubleshoots network issues and coordinates with vendors for installation of such items as routers and switches
  • Works on project implementation
  • Provides training and assists with proposal writing
  • Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons
  • Builds proof-of concept solutions with networking system technology and architects and implements networking solutions to address client requirements
  • Works with products or solutions on vendor hardware and operating system software
  • Requires knowledge in networking system technology areas including routers, networking controllers, bridges, or networking software related to these technologies

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 5+ years’ experience performing z/OS system support / programming, Host Network experience
  • Demonstrable skills in z/OS Network Systems Programming in a multi-LPAR Sysplex environment: Communication Server VTAM : SNA, APPN, Enterprise Extender, Subarea routing, Logmode tables
  • Communication Server TCP/IP: OSA, OSPF, zOSMF, DVIPA, DDVIPA. Network Security: PAGENT, SSL/TLS, Configuration Assistant, SSH
  • Network Monitoring: (One or more) NetView, CA-NetMaster, OMEGAMON for Networks
  • File Transfer (Two or more): Connect:Direct, CA-XCOM, ftp(s), SFTP, NetView FTP, Co:Z, Tectia
  • Session managers (one or more): CA-TPX, CL-Supersession, NetView Access Services, Teleview, VTAM/Switch
  • Print products: CA-Spool, IBM Infoprint, VPS
  • Diagnostic skills are a must, including the ability to interpret job and task logs, syslogs, and traces
  • Ability to train and coach junior team members and build proficient network skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and accounts

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
