Italian Centre Shop is currently recruiting for a (2) Full-Time Pastry Baker to join our growing team at our Little Italy location (10878 95 Street) in Edmonton, AB.

How you help the team:

  • Prepare a wide variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, danishes, etc. by following recipes and/or product directions
  • Keep and maintain records relating to inventory and production levels
  • Fill display case with finished pastries products
  • Greet customers in the bakery department in a timely manner
  • Answer customer questions and provide advice regarding products
  • Communicate customer requests to their Supervisor and/or Dept. Manager
  • Suggestion Selling
  • Measure and weigh out baking ingredients
  • Combine measured ingredients into bowls for mixing or blending
  • Set time and speed controls for mixing or blending machines to ensure consistency
  • Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies, chocolate ganache, caramel sauces, fruits, etc.
  • Roll, knead, cut, or shape dough to form sweet rolls, pie crusts, tarts, cookies, or other products
  • Place dough or batter in pans, molds, or sheets
  • Set oven temperature and place items into hot ovens for baking
  • Observe color of products being baked and adjust oven temperature, humidity or conveyor speeds accordingly
  • Decorate pastries using different glazes, icings, and toppings
  • Wash and clean baking supplies by following sanitation and cleaning procedures
  • Meet deadlines given by management
  • Adhere to food safety and handling procedures
  • Keep work area clean and presentable
  • Complete all opening and closing procedures
  • Complete other duties assigned by management
  • Promote a positive company image by actively engaging with employees, customers, suppliers and the community
  • Represent ICS both in and out of the store
  • Share their ideas or observations with Supervisors in regard to new items or trends in the market

Qualifications:

  • High School or GED from an accredited school system or program preferred.
  • Enrolled in or have completed at least the first year of the Baking Apprenticeship Program
  • Minimum two-years’ experience in a bakery environment
