We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Full-time Bindery/General Labourer for the Folding and Handwork Department!

This role is based at our manufacturing plant in Scarborough, and reports to the Shift Supervisor. We have evening shift available: Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Preparing orders for binding
• Operating book bindery machines
• Maintain the machine's operapibility and cleanliness
• Notifying Machine Operators and/or Shift Supervisor of any quality issues.
• Processing handwork according to specifications (including boxing, bundling with elastic bands, wrapping, binding, coiling, and gluing).
• Packing finish product into boxes
• Documenting final packing on projects.
• Assisting with warehouse workflow where necessary.
• Flexibility to work in the Folding department depending on business needs.
• Maintaining a clean and tidy workstation based on 5S system.

Qualifications & Experience

• 1 year of bindery/general labour experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
• Prior experience in the printing industry is an asset.
• Basic communication in English (written and verbal) required.
• Good ability to follow instructions and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

• Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
• Frequent lifting of objects.
• Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and twisting is required.
• Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
• Exposure to ink and chemical fumes, and airborne particles such as paper dust and drying powder.
• Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
• Additional hours may be required due to operational requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills e.g., working well with others, communication, positive attitude.
• Basic computer skills
• Good attention to detail and hand eye coordination.
• Able to work independently and as a member of the team.
• Able to apply written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and attention to workstation.
