POSITION: Blueberry Field Manager

DEPARTMENT: Golden Eagle Farm Group

REPORTS TO: General Manager

LOCATION: 16351 Aquilini Avenue, Pitt Meadows, BC


The Golden Eagle Farm Group is Canada’s leading Blueberry and Cranberry farm operation located in the lower mainland of BC. Our products are supplied to domestic and international markets, while maintaining the highest quality standards and certifications.


SUMMARY:

The Blueberry Field Manager will work collaboratively with farm leadership in managing the Blueberry crop farming operations at the farm. Ideally, the blueberry manager will live in farm housing which is 12 minutes from downtown Pitt Meadows, 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver.


Farming experience is essential. Berry experience is desirable but not necessary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned from time to time)


  • Manage overall Blueberry operations
  • Responsible for coordinating Blueberry fields planting, cultivation, pollination, all aspects of spraying, fertilizing and harvesting
  • Responsible for the overall health, quality, and yield of Blueberry fields
  • Organize and ensure daily tasks are performed by farm workers including harvesters, machine operators, and any other direct farm workers
  • Coordinate all Blueberry field infrastructure upkeep such as the maintenance of the irrigation system
  • Assist with Blueberry machinery operations such as the maintenance of the picking machines and other farm related equipment
  • Collaborate with farm management in improving efficiencies and operations at the farm
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment for all employees


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a farming leadership role, blueberry crop experience is preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Strong analytical skills, work ethic, willingness to learn
  • Positive and professional attitude, highly motivated team player
  • Effective conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work extended hours during harvest (July to September)
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
