We are currently looking for a highly motivated and committed Manager – Distribution West to join Surex’s Magrath, Alberta office.

About the role:
Reporting to the VP- Distribution (West) the Manager- Distribution (West) is primarily responsible for providing support to Advisors through training, communication, answering questions, and resolving client escalations. You are the local community leader, motivating and coaching your team to create a memorable experience for clients as well as driving the business forward through your strategic planning. By your leadership, the goals, purpose, and vision for the organization are brought into focus and executed by your ability to collaborate and build relationships. This role requires strong communication skills for interacting with multiple departments and our external partners, and an ability to self-manage and make decisions necessary for growth, while keeping stakeholder engagement.

We are currently in a work from home model but, this position may require to work out of our Magrath, AB office location. Travel may be required on a limited basis within province.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Responsible for all day-to-day team management
  • Lead on-boarding, initial training, and continued support of advisors in the use of Surex BMS, Applied Systems, Powerbroker, GoTo, Podium, Company & Carrier Portals, G-suite, Slack
  • Work with VP to formulate strategy and operations for the department. Communicates, implements, and monitors to ensure goals and objectives are attained
  • Responsible for ensuring that quality of service meets expected standards. Analyzes and resolves quality and customer service and sales issues. Follows up with clients as required or manages escalation of issues
  • Accountable for overall staffing and leadership of the team - motivate staff to participate in company objectives as well as continuously keeping front-line staff informed of changes or new directions
  • Responsible for the general administration of the team, including but not limited to IT, payroll and human resource changes and management including vacation coordination and approval for team members to ensure appropriate back-up and coverage
  • Provides ongoing coaching, guidance and feedback regarding performance as well as facilitating continuous learning and development of direct reports ensuring urgent duties and productivity metrics are being achieved
  • Track, organize, and present weekly & monthly reports to the VP of Distribution on advisor sales and productivity metrics
  • Communicate with carrier BDM’s, under the direction of the VP of Distribution, when escalations occur
  • Provide advisor feedback on company systems, procedures, workflows, etc
  • Support the VP of Distribution with incentive programs and company activities
  • Assist with In House/Vacation/Commercial/TSA advisor workloads when required
  • Update carrier billing and company details when necessary
  • Track and help facilitate Advisor License Renewals
  • Contribute to and/or lead weekly advisor meetings
  • Create and manage the monthly advisor evening/weekend calendar
  • Pro-active engagement in modeling Surex’s Core Values and Culture
  • Travel from time to time
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Level 2 general insurance license
  • 3-5 years’ working experience as Broker or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of prior leadership or management experience
  • Proficient knowledge of carrier portals and broker management tools or software including working experience with Powerbroker, Ring Central, GoTo, Podium and G-suite
  • Excellent customer service skills and conflict resolution
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities successfully
  • High sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • High level of accountability and dependability
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and critical thinking ability
