POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Program Manager - is responsible for extracting, mining, evaluating, analyzing and researching data generated from various components of the data warehouse and systems; preparing of statistical and narrative reports; collecting, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, creating, and maintaining data files to support systems software configurations; supporting the installations of hardware and software upgrades and new equipment configurations; and providing system support for the development, implementation, operation and maintenance of specialized automated systems and related applications, as required; providing data warehouse and business intelligence solutions and support to enable access to quality data.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and provides support for the implementation of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence (DWBI) projects in the Department.
  • Creates interactive data visualizations and dashboards on an as needed basis through the use of rapid BI software.
  • Researches, analysis, organizes, implements and documents data acquisition, transformation, creation and maintenance processes, and ensure that data meets Department’s quality requirements.
  • Maintains data approval workflow.
  • Assists data owners and end users to perform data verification and validation quality checks; reviews and analyzes the results of program and systems testing with end users.
  • Monitors and tunes queries and data loads as needed using database and programming languages such as PL/SQL, Visual Basic, JavaScript, HTML and XML, in consultation with ITS Branch.
  • Liaises with internal staff, providing systems expertise and support; shares information regarding initiatives and other best practices with Branch and Department staff
  • Liaises with external vendors on software and hardware updates, new product initiatives, and other systems related information.
  • Attends seminars, conferences and training as directed and shares information regarding initiatives and other best practices with Branch and Department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated hands-on experience extracting, analyzing, and reporting technical data generated from information systems; creating and maintaining data files to support software configurations; and experience using Windows Servers and workstations.
  • Knowledge of data, internet, and networking technologies with demonstrated experience using reporting tools (e.g. Crystal Reports).
  • Knowledge of data visualization techniques and experience in the creation of interactive dashboards.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
  • Utilization and in-depth knowledge of statistical concepts in the development of data collection instruments and methods.
