About the Opportunity
  • Expertise in internal controls design and assessment, experience with financial analysis and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external departments
  • Post-audit follow up on all internal audit management response items to gather status reports on deliverables, assist with reviews of control requirements during implementation, advise senior Finance management where control requirements are not being implemented as committed
  • Prepare post-audit status reports and updates for Senior Management, Audit, Finance and Resources Committee and Board Of Trustees as required
  • Participate in all Finance and Supply Chain projects and process improvement initiatives as the internal controls SME to provide guidance and ensure reasonable and appropriate controls are designed to govern new and revised processes and practices
  • Review and document specific internal controls procedures and processes
  • Maintain professional and healthcare sector linkages to access best practices to help continually improve financial processes and controls
  • Participate in the implementation of ERP operations projects; provide internal controls guidance relevant to modules
  • Document business process modelling activities for future reference
  • Gathers information through process mapping, flow-charting, and workshops. This information can then be used to develop better process engineering
  • Monitor detailed business analyses and collaborate with business and IT leaders to create new process designs
  • Ability to evaluate internal workflows and business processes
  • Possess great interpersonal and communication skills, report writing abilities, an aptitude for analyzing data, and great business acumen
  • Self-directed and self-driven, ability to prioritize work and deliverables with minimal guidance from manager. Supports an environment that encourages best practices, high standards, and innovation
  • Leads process improvement training, supports and guides initiatives identified through the Process Improvement
  • Supports system and process improvements that enhance value from systems, tools and team members’ skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively under stressful conditions and tight deadlines
  • Effectively identify, communicate and lead necessary change
  • Support a workplace that embraces diversity and encourages team work
  • Encourage and educate others to achieve compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements
About You
  • B.A. or Business Administration degree (or degree in related field) from a recognized institution
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred
  • Professional accounting designation i.e., CPA; CA, CPA; CMA, CPA; CGA) and/or professional internal audit designation (i.e., CIA, CISA) preferred
  • Familiar with the application of Canadian GAAP and other financial standards, ideally in a PSAB environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of related accounting, financial internal controls, process improvement and internal audit experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence and clarity in verbal and written communications in English, and ability to effectively liaise with internal and external departments
  • Strong relationship building and conflict resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and software applications, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with process mapping software e.g. Visio
  • Record of work accuracy and timeliness under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of the Health Care sector requirements preferred
Pay Rate
$45/hour
