We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst to join our Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team and support our delivery of progressive enhancements to technology across the City. Reporting to the Application Services Manager, you will join a team of Business Systems Analysts and Systems Analysts and focus on supporting the Fire/Rescue and Emergency Management teams through internal business applications such as Workforce Telestaff, Intergraph I/Netviewer, and FDM RMS. You will also play a critical role in the design, development and implementation of corporation-wide business initiatives by leveraging our applications. Our successful candidate will be a progressive thinker who aims to exceed expectations in service delivery to internal and external stakeholders. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Business, Information Technology, or Engineering supplemented by at least 3 years of related work experience is a requirement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, provided that the candidate is eager to learn and pick up new and potentially complex elements of the job.

A valid BC Driver’s license is required, and public sector experience in this field is an asset.

In addition to the above noted requirements, the ideal candidate will showcase:

  • Experience administering and maintaining emergency response applications such as incident records management and/or rostering and callout systems
  • Experience with computer aided dispatch (CAD) mobile data terminals for incident status reporting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Proficiency in data integration with tools such as Safe Software FME
  • Proven expertise in business and technical requirements definition and analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems development and project management methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills
  • Unwavering customer focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships and leverage interpersonal skills with peers in other fields of work
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS software would be preferred
  • Prior Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) training would be preferred

The City offers a competitive salary of $45.68 to $53.97 per hour (2022 rates) plus a comprehensive benefits package including eligibility to participate in an earned day off program. Applicants under consideration will be required to undergo a police security clearance evaluation. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
