Position
Under the authority of the Manager, Purchasing, the Buyer is responsible to plan, purchase and replenish products and/or parts for commodities under its responsibility.
The incumbent is also responsible to purchase non-production related products for all departments of dormakaba.
Main responsibilities

  • Plan material requirements for products and/or parts under its responsibility
  • Purchase and expedite parts in order to meet production needs
  • Prepare and communicate purchase orders or releases to the suppliers and perform appropriate follow-up on promised delivery date
  • Resolve non-conformity issues related to material/equipment/service with suppliers and in conjunction with the quality and engineering departments, as per our quality standards
  • Ensure supply of non-production related products for all departments within Dormakaba
  • Participate and document the development of efficient business and material movement processes
  • Maintain the Axapta system (ERP) by performing required transactions in a timely manner and by keeping the purchasing parameters updated
  • Work in close collaboration with the receiving/ shipping, production and quality departments, to ensure coordination of all material movements (inbounds and outbounds)
  • Coordinate the change of revision for parts with the quality, engineering and production departments
  • Negotiate with the suppliers
  • Research for new suppliers
  • Update key performance indicators and reports
  • Perform any other task related to this job.

Requirements

  • College or University degree in Administration and/or in a related field
  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience within similar. functions, in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical, planning and negotiation skills with a great team spirit
  • Good knowledge of material management best practices
  • MRP/ERP pertinent experience, Microsoft Dynamics AX and SAP an asset
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards
  • Familiar with supply chain concepts and best practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Bilingualism essential
  • Purchasing experience on Internet.

Pay: Up to $80,000.00 per year
