Position Summary

Reporting to the Child, Youth and Family Services Supervisor, the Summer Camp Leader is responsible for the overall delivery and planning of the summer camp daily activities. As well as, facilitating and implementing daily programming plan activities & supervision of children ages 6 – 12 in daily operations and on out-trips.

Job Responsibilities

· Develop, supervise, and participate in camp-wide programming activities

· Work co-operatively with other Camp Counsellors to ensure campers are safe, while maintain adequate health and hygiene measures.

· Work with other counselors to plan various activities, weekly program plan and newsletters.

· Supervise camp counsellors during daily camp activities.

· Supervise program participants and ensure their safety, development, skill achievement and general well-being.

· Ensure that the program spaces, equipment, supplies and activities are safe and appropriate

· Track and monitor timely completion of weekly program plans & newsletters

· Attend weekly meetings and staff trainings

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

To be eligible, students must:

· Be between 18 and 30 years of age on or before June 26th, 2023

· Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a student camp counsellor/camp coordinator or previous work experience with children aged 6 – 12 years old

· Currently enrolled or completed Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure Services, Child and Youth Work would be considered an asset

· Superior programming skills and ability to efficiently carry out program plans

· Ability to establish rapport with children, parents, volunteers, and co-workers

· Excellent communication skills- oral and written

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Google Meets and Zoom.

· Current First-Aid and CPR

· Ability to work in a diverse environment within an inclusive, client-centered framework

· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Compensation and Hours of Work:

· $18.15 per hour @ 35 hrs/week

· Shift Hours: Monday-Friday

· Start date: June 26th, 2023/ End date: August 18th, 2023
