The Evergreens Foundation is a not-for-profit housing management body proudly supporting independent housing in Alberta. We aim to facilitate quality of life for all of our residents, through our senior and social housing facilities located in Hinton, Jasper, Edson, Grade Cache, and Evansburg.

This position will be permanently based at our beautiful Pine Valley Senior Citizen Lodge in Hinton, Alberta, which is also known as a ‘Gateway to the Canadian Rockies’ and offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Our office is located only 15 min away from the Jasper National Park East Gates. We are inviting you to relocate to Hinton for an adventurous and enriching lifestyle for you and your family.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Chef de Partie who is looking to make a difference in the lives of our seniors while leading a passionate and a talented culinary team. You will be leading a team to ensure the highest quality of food preparation and presentation for our residents, while maintaining a working environment where creativity and continuous improvement are the standard. The Pine Valley Lodge is equipped with a brand-new professional kitchen, including modern top of the line equipment. There is a fully functioning stewarding department including nigh cleaning staff.

Main Duties:

  • Responsible for producing quality meals that are visually pleasing following the pre-determined menu.
  • Delegate and participate in the preparation, cooking and overseeing during meal times.
  • Ensure food is handled, stored, and cooked according to health and safety standards along with Safe Food guidelines.
  • Monitor and control inventory.
  • Train, mentor and lead culinary team on basic cooking techniques, food preparation and presentation, operating kitchen equipment, and kitchen safety.
  • Motivate culinary team to achieve organizational goals and celebrate successes.
  • Interact with residents to obtain feedback on food quality, presentation and service levels
  • Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of culinary and supervisory experience is required
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a culinary-related field would be an asset
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient and tactful composure in a fast-paced environment

NOTE: The successful candidate must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Check. Hourly rate will be as per The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955.

SALARY

Starting at $32.56 per hour, Permanent, 4 on 4 off Day Shift
