Location: 45 Birchcliff Ave, Kitchener ON

Hours & Compensation:

  • Temporary Part-Time
  • Pay Rate: $18.16 per hour + eligible employees may receive a Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant (PWEG) of up to $2/hour for in-ratio hours based on the terms and conditions outlined by the Ministry of Education
  • Hours: 15 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9:45 am to 12:45 pm
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • End Date: December 16, 2023 (with possibility for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

  • To take an active role as part of the Centre’s professional child care team working in a program with children with complex needs
  • To provide a warm and nurturing environment for children and families
  • To maintain effective communication with staff, parents and coordinator
  • To ensure the health and safety of the children
  • To act as a positive role model for the children

Skills, Qualifications, & Requirements:

  • Registered Early Childhood Educator or equivalent, or a 2 year diploma in a field relevant to working with children, ECE students currently enrolled in the program with a minimum of two semesters, enrollment in ECE apprenticeship program and significant experience working with children.
  • Experience working with complex needs children
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check and Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification (required)
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the Child Care and Early Years Act and use of environmental assessment tools
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with staff, parents, children, and the public
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Vaccine Verification - As a condition of employment you are required to provide confirmation that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 or have proof of valid exemption satisfactory to the employer. You must acknowledge and agree to comply with any future vaccine policy requirements as an ongoing condition of employment at the YW Kitchener-Waterloo.
