About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Manager of Operations, you will be a key team player in our Services and Supports unit. In this role, you will respond to a high volume of inquiries from the public, clients, staff, and other government departments. Using your sound organizational skills and strong attention to detail, you will ensure the integrity of data, records, and services provided.


Work is performed in a fast paced, highly sensitive, confidential environment. This is a perfect opportunity for you if you are attentive to detail, highly meticulous and proficient with spreadsheets, report writing, and computer systems (including case management software and online applications and portals).


As the Clerk, you are critical in providing accurate information and responding to requests in a timely manner; ensuring there are no impacts to services for Nova Scotians.


Primary Accountabilities


A few of your key responsibilities will include:


  • Responding to requests and applications for programs and services, including Child Abuse Register search requests, the Poverty Reduction Credit Tax and the Low Income Pharmacare Program for Children.
  • Recording all inquiries for statistical tracking along with completing reviews of data (financial and operational).
  • Working with the Services and Supports unit to provide support on transactional requirements and tasks.

You may be required to provide assistance in supporting the development of program, management reports, and other secretarial duties as required.


Qualifications and Experience


You have a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in an office administration and coordination environment.


You must have good client service skills and effective organizational and communication skills, including verbal and written. You must be organized and detail oriented, with demonstrated ability to use a variety of computer applications. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook is critical to your success as you work with multiple spreadsheets and database systems.


Assets include a familiarity with ICM, CCM and a general working knowledge of services offered by the Department and other community agencies.


We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.


Equivalency


An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies include, but are not limited to:


  • A completed related bachelors degree
  • A completed related diploma and two (2) years of experience

Working Conditions


Work is performed primarily in an open office environment. This role requires the completion of repetitive tasks on a regular basis; good hand dexterity for continual phone and computer use is beneficial. This role also requires a high level of visual and mental concentration.


There is a high degree of pressure present while maintaining accuracy and balancing the volume of work and meeting deadlines.

Pay Grade: CL 18

Salary Range: $1,626.82 - $1,820.19 Bi-Weekly
