The Ministry of Children and Family Development provides services that support healthy, safe environments where children are connected to their family and community. The Financial Services & Quality Assurance Unit within the Corporate Operations Support Branch provides leadership and guidance on daily financial operations to optimize the use of financial and corporate resources to maximize Ministry capacity and provide integrated quality services to support improved outcomes for children, youth and families.

The Financial Services Clerk is the frontline position in financial services and responsibility to deliver the financial support services to their client offices and procurement teams. This position plans and organizes their workload to achieve the timeline priority standards and carry out pre-audit and processing requirements, which are guided by an array of Core Policies, MCFD Programs Financial Policies, Expenditure Management Directives, and specific guidelines. In addition, they plan and deliver training and support to the client offices, carry out internal control office site evaluations, maintain several financial and client tracking data sets, review local cheque payments and general ledger transactions for policy compliance and appropriate account coding.



Job Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • Three years clerical/administrative support experience.
  • One year of experience in and Accounting Operations environment including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other core accounting functions.
  • Experience using computerized systems and software such as internet-based applications and financial applications.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:

    • Two or more years of accounts payable experience.
    • One or more years of analytical reporting or reconciliation experience.
    • One or more years of experience working in CAS Oracle.
    • Completed post-secondary courses in accounting or related financial services.

  • Ability to travel within province and service area and holder of a valid drivers license
