changeoversTroubleshootingthethetheReporting to the Coating Production Supervisor, the operator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of coating the tape.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
  • Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards
  • Ensure proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment at all times
  • Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, carry out production and inspection processes
  • Mark, record, and report defective products
  • Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at the end of day
  • Communicate with the lead hand, supervisors, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel to resolve equipment or quality issues
  • Ensure the proper material is at the machine
  • Overall responsibility for the operation of all the coaters
  • Trouble shooting and making minor repairs, including changing shafts and blades
  • Do change overs on machines when necessary.
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed, temperature)
  • Feed input material to machines using appropriate job aids (i.e. forklift, pump truck, etc.)
  • Inspect finished jumbos with precision and measuring tools
  • Test operation of machines periodically
  • Check output to identify any quality issues
  • Complete daily process reports
  • Maintain activity logs
  • Additional duties as required

Work Conditions

  • Must be able to work a rotating flexible schedule including days, evenings, overnights
  • Ability to perform repetitive and heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds)
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand printed material
  • Use of required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
  • Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
  • Lifting, moving or manipulating objects
  • Ability to meet consistent attendance

Qualifications and Skills

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing an asset
  • Works well independently and in a team setting
  • Good understanding of production procedures
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of PPE)
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to read work instructions and machine setup manuals
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
