FIJ Law LLP is a Richmond Hill based law firm, delivering legal services in various areas including our real estate department. While providing high-quality legal services, we maintain a professional, but relaxed and congenial environment.

We have an opening for a Real Estate Law Clerk to join our busy practice, to work as part of a team that supports 4 lawyers. We are looking for an individual with positive energy, who is keen to learn, and dedicated to providing efficient, high-quality work, in a collaborative manner. While specialized training will be provided, the ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in real estate, and will be a confident, organized, detail-orientated, self-starter that is prepared to proactively work on files with the lawyers they support.

Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and completing commercial purchase, sales, and mortgage files from start to finish
  • Assisting with land development transactions
  • Managing and completing commercial lending transactions (acting on behalf of lenders and borrowers)
  • Conducting and reviewing title searches, off-title searches and drafting requisitions and documents
  • Preparing and registering of documentation in Teraview, Unity, and Conveyancer
  • Assists with residential real estate transactions, when required

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • A certificate/diploma in an accredited Law Clerk/Legal Administration Program
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Real Estate Law Clerk in a busy Firm environment
  • Must have experience in all forms of real-estate files - purchases, sales, and mortgages (both institutional and private); commercial real estate and lending experience is considered a strong asset
  • Possess advanced Computer skills. Must be proficient with Conveyancer, Unity, Teraview, PC Law, and Microsoft Word & Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple client files in a proficient and efficient manner
  • Being able to perform title and off-title searches and all relevant correspondence in detail
  • Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work under pressure
  • Ability to critically think and identify solutions to issues that may arise over the course of a transaction
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
