Description
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing effective & dedicated executive level administrative support and performing various communications duties for the Municipality. The position will require proficiency in customer service, research, written and verbal communication, design and marketing.
The successful candidate should possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and proficient skills in varying computer applications including: website maintenance, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint software, familiarity with Municipal software packages including Keystone and GIS would be beneficial.
- Advanced computer literacy skills in various MS office applications and Adobe applications (Acrobat Professional, InDesign) and Social Media applications.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and understand legislation, knowledge of the Municipal Act, familiarity with e-Laws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of roles and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent business writing skills, attention to detail and adaptability.
- Ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders with tact and discretion. Assertive, confident and thrives under pressure.
- Excellent customer service orientation and skills. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work outside normal business hours, as required.
Education/Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in office administration, public administration or other related field.
- 3 years of progressive responsibility and diversified local government experience including executive administration, project coordination/project management skills, advanced computer skills with a good understanding of financial principles, Microsoft applications, municipal software programs and solid business writing skills.
- Must be familiar with social media channels and tools.
This contract opportunity will be up to 18 months in length.
The hourly wage for this position is $34.62 - $42.50 per hour. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A detailed summary of the position responsibilities, qualifications and a complete job description are attached. Applications are being accepted until February 13, 2023.
