Scope

Join the Sport Surrey team! Help advance Surrey as the premier sports destination in the Pacific Northwest through supporting Sport Tourism projects and events. We are looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual to join the team. Share your passion for sport and tourism as you organize and deliver events all across the City. You will be working varying schedules including frequent weekends and some evenings.

Responsibilities

As the Sport Surrey Coordinator, you will:
Develop strategic partnerships and relationships and liaise with various community, regional, provincial, and national sports organizations, accommodation and hospitality businesses, sports facilities, and sponsors to support sport event initiatives within Surrey
Act as a key contact for stakeholders, respond to requests and inquiries, direct inquiries to the appropriate resources and makes industry connections as appropriate
Act as an ambassador for the City by fostering strong business-to-business relationships between the City's key sports tourism and festival organizations
Provide data reporting on primary deliverables and key performance indicators, such as economic impact, event revenues and expenditures, and service improvements
Actively collect information and provide relevant updates pertaining to sport tourism industry trends, developments, research, funding, events, and other information to keep Surrey current and up to date
Support the implementation of the Sport Tourism Strategy including development of a work plan, identification of short and long-term objectives and action plans, time-lines, budgets, deliverables and performance measurement indicators
Administration of applications for the Sport Tourism Grant program
Identify opportunities and pursue leads, and secure new sport related events in Surrey
Develop event bid estimates for project scope, schedule and resource requirements ensuring programs are cost-effective, estimated, and scheduled
Represent Surrey at sport, event and film-related conferences, trade shows, and meetings to promote the City as a sport hosting destination
Build and maintain a bid process that includes marketing materials, costing, managing, measuring, and reporting.
Supervise and support staff and volunteers as required.
Assist with various administrative duties, and perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

They must also have:
Graduated from a recognized university or college level program in a related discipline.
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience including supervision.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
