The opportunity

The Boston or Toronto based position is on the MIM Public/Private Markets and GA Compliance Assessment and Testing Center of Excellence (A&T CoE), a centralized global compliance function.

Responsibilities:

Complete the A&T CoE Test Plan:

  • Manage, develop, and perform testing on targeted assessments and policy reviews to advise the business as to potential regulatory and reputational risks. The compliance themes addressed by these projects include portfolio management, trading practices, accuracy of disclosures, ESG and sustainability initiatives, privacy, and records management.
  • Lead, develop, and conduct regulatory exam preparedness exercises, including mock exams.
  • When needed, collaborate with local compliance teams on actual regulatory examinations and ad hoc investigations into potential misconduct.
  • Draft assessment and testing reports including issues and corrective action plans.
  • Perform validation testing of assessment and testing issues identified.
  • Develop and complete periodic, transactional and forensic testing to support the broader compliance program, including the Code of Ethics and Distribution CoEs.
  • Prepare training materials and presentations for the A&T CoE.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for Senior Management and Oversight Committees
  • Supervise compliance analyst, including providing mentorship and training as needed. Provide ad-hoc back-up support for the Compliance Director.

Knowledge/Skills/Proficiencies/Education:

  • The candidate should have a positive attitude, ability to work both independently and with a team, and be risk minded.
  • Preferred minimum experience of 5-7 years, 2 years of which in a supervisory role, in compliance, risk, or audit (in the financial services industry) with internal controls testing skills.
  • Bachelors degree in financial or business-related field, or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CFA a plus.
  • Familiarity with trading systems (e.g. Bloomberg), ESG data service providers (MSCI, S&P Trucost, Sustainalytics) and data analytics tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R) a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, an ability to lead multiple assignments with competing priorities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team are essential.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role in the primary location of Boston, Massachusetts is expected to be between $82,500.00 CAD - $148,500.00 CAD.

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
