JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
1. Purchasing Responsibilities
  • Upon receipt of material lists and date requirements from site superintendents and/or foremen, verifies availability of existing material in warehouse. Determines materials requiring purchase.
  • Upon receipt of a take-off material list from Estimators, helps in the estimation of Material costs determines, considers inventory or overstock of materials in warehouse or other locations, determines materials requiring purchasing,
  • Contacts suppliers and requests pricing for any stock materials or special materials needed. Negotiates price with suppliers to ensure improved profitability when available. Investigates bulk buying opportunities to improve pricing.
  • Prepares purchase orders, gets necessary approvals depending upon value thresholds and provides purchase orders to the supplier; schedules delivery to warehouse or job site as appropriate.
  • Follows up with supplier on any backorders and expedites to ensure parts meet demand requirements. Returns materials found to be defective to supplier to receive appropriate credits.
  • Order, controls and arranges pick up all necessary rental equipment, minimizing costs .
  • Contacts suppliers and solicits quotations for job lots in response to requests from Sales/Project Managers.
  • Follow up with suppliers when job is awarded and negotiate best price/delivery.
  • to ensure that appropriate credit is received on the company account.
  • Ensures that suppliers invoice at the correct pricing level and resolve any discrepancies with supplier.
  • Works with A/P and approves any invoices that are missing packing slips as evidence of receipt. Advises A/P of any new subcontract purchase orders awarded.

2. Inventory Control Responsibilities

  • Working with Inventory Control, maintains control of all reels on site, and follows up with the responsible site supervisor or foreman and the supplier to arrange for pick up of the empty reels
  • Working with Warehouse Shipper/Receiver, Inventory Control & Management to establish what should be stocked, minimum quantities for stock items, reorder points and maximum inventory levels thus ensuring appropriate reserve supply to ensure there is enough inventory to allow for continued production.
  • Receives Stock order requests from Inventory Control, Orders supply as necessary to keep stock replenished, taking into account back ordered materials and lead times.
  • Helps Inventory Control to Maintain copies of supplier purchases for Inventory Files
  • Price inventory control sheets, including returns provided by Warehouse Shipper / Receiver/Inventory Control to provide appropriate accounting and value of current inventory.
  • Working with Inventory Control to Maintains control of all reels on site, and follows up with the responsible site supervisor or foreman and the supplier to arrange for pick up of the empty reels to ensure that appropriate credit is received on the company account.
  • Ensure that all material returned is costed and returned to stock in the accounting system.
  • Co-ordinates staging and shipping activity with the Warehouse Shipper/Receiver to ensure that material required at the job site is available and delivered as required.

  • Layered take-off experience
  • Construction Industry experience
