Position

We are looking for a temporary, full-time Contracts Specialist to work out of one of our Whitehorse/Calgary/Toronto offices or remotely. This position is working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. This would be a 6 to 12 month contract with the opportunity to go permanent. Occasional travel to the Mine site would be required. Travel and accommodation will be provided as per the Company travel policy.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

  • 7-10 years related experience in contracts administration
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or Legal
  • Knowledge of the source to contract process
  • Knowledge of Procurement Law and/or Procurement practices
  • Must have experience working in the mining industry
  • Experience with RFP’s
  • Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships
  • Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Engage with key stakeholders regarding the procurement life cycle, including business proponents, Selkirk First Nations, vendors, and support departments
  • Steward the contract lifecycle for Minto both internally and externally
  • Work with Minto proponents on planning and executing operating and capital project requirements
  • Support & facilitate, where required, meetings with vendors to negotiate contract terms/conditions and work schedules
  • Manage timely contract renewals, providing notice and ensuring consistency and responsibility for renewal options and requirements
  • Monitor adherence to corporate policies when obtaining new services or continuing services beyond the term of a contract in a matter that promotes competition ensures compliance with applicable laws and policies, and maintains corporate integrity
  • Set standards and protocols with regards to preparing purchase orders and soliciting bid proposals
  • Lead in the negotiation of supplier contracts, RFPs and manage the writing of contracts
  • Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety, and operational policies and procedures
  • Maintain a high standard of performance in your duties
  • Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels
  • Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company
