COVID Screener- Contract (Temporary) 12 hour shifts, weekends needed Job at Salvation Army Grace Manor Ottawa

Reporting to the Director of Nursing and care the COVID Screener is responsible for conducting and analyzing the results of COVID 19 Rapid antigen testing (Swabs) in keeping with the Standards of the LTCHA and / or OPH Regulations.

Key responsibilities:

· Greeting and directing visitors
· Preliminary covid screening questionnaire of all persons entering the building
· Administers temperature checks of all visitors, contractors and staff. Ensures accurate records of results in log book
· Administers COVID-19 Rapid Antigen nasal swab (training provided) to staff, visitors, contractors and staff. Interprets and accurately records testing results.

Maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, co-workers, volunteers, and visitors by following facility policies and procedures; the incumbent strives to enrich the environment by minimizing the institutional setting and noise by facilitating a quiet, calm, and homelike environment.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
· Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing,

- Medical, Health Sciences or Nursing Student

OR

. Current registration as a Medical Lab technologist or Medical Lab Assistant
· Proof of successful completion of the practical nursing program from an accredited School of Nursing/ Proof successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma from an accredited college.

. Must be in good standing with the regulatory college of applicable field

· Current CPR Certificate.
· Experience in COVID screening/Rapid swab specimen collection preferred
· Knowledge of infection control considered an asset

· Sound clinical judgment, tact, and personal ability to work cooperatively and effectively with residents, family members, physicians, volunteers and co-workers as a member of an Interdisciplinary Care Team.
· Self motivated ability to work, carry out responsibilities with minimum direction, and to use good judgment in making appropriate decisions.
· Must be physically and mentally able to carry out responsibilities and able to cope effectively with fast pace and stress.
· Ability to develop and maintain rapport with elderly residents.
· Ability to organize workload using time management principles.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Ability to work cooperatively with all staff, families and contractors, and maintain a working climate that is positive, respectful and mutually supportive.
· Works closely with other disciplines
· Knowledge of computer operations are considered an asset.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Care and as directed by OPH , Strict infection control policies are in place and being followed. Protective equipment is provided by the home. The safety of our residents and staff is our top priority.
