Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre, located in Timmins ON is established to provide quality programs and services that honour, respect and support Indigenous culture, values and healing practices, complimented by western approaches to primary health care. Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre is one of two Aboriginal community health centres in Ontario. Our Child and Youth program provides services to a number of First Nation communities in outlying areas around Timmins. Misiway maintains a network of community partnerships and relationships with Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal organizations.

The Opportunity:

Job Title: Crisis Team Coordinator

Misiway Milopemahtesewin CHC, Timmins, ON

Salary Range: $48,000 - $58,000

Bring your proven social work experience working with Aboriginal children and families in crisis to this challenging and rewarding role in our Community Health Centre. As the Crisis Team Coordinator you will work closely with community crisis response teams, community leadership and local health resources as well as organizations that provide support to families and/or communities in crisis. You will also provide counselling and intervention to individual children, youth and groups of youth. Your knowledge and ability to match needs with services will assist you to deliver high quality, culturally, competent care.

As a successful candidate your qualifications will include:

  • A University or College Degree in Social Work
  • Current registration with College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with First Nations which may include remote, rural, isolated communities
  • Extensive counselling experience which includes Trauma
  • Strong knowledge of local service system and available programs for youth and community
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, flexible hours and to travel to meet service needs
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and planning skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is considered an asset
