The Opportunity:

This position performs data analysis, transformation, modelling and provides reports, materials and data visualization to CSV leadership. This position works directly with ESRI GIS and is responsible for facilitating daily responsibilities to CSV Information Systems (examples may include: SmartSimple, Efforts to Outcomes Database, Intelli, Transit suite (SWIT)). The role will ensure data integrity and accuracy through audits and development of processes, procedures and actions to improve data quality for internal projects and those funded through federal and provincial grants. The data analyst provides technical assistance and functional training on the use of databases for those responsible for the data management systems in the contracted agencies and internal staff.

This position ensures database systems users’ input data using standard procedures for data entry, compilation and analysis to provide consistent and effective tracking of outcomes. The Data and Systems Analyst provides consultation and expertise to individuals, groups and agencies working to maintain an accurate and current data management system. Also required is, validating data and analysing data for program/technology/system improvement and doing research and evaluation.

The position assumes a technical and facilitation role in the coordination and implementation of system testing and developing of reports, and implementation of key technology or systems that are critical to efficient overall delivery of CSV services.

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

  • Diploma in computer technology or business related.
  • Two to three years’ experience with skills and knowledge specific to computer database management, including technical database, data querying and manipulation skills, statistical analysis and data information processing.
  • Two years’ experience in providing technical assistance and/or leadership in the implementation of new technologies and software solutions.
  • A combination of work experience and education may be considered.
    The ability to independently make sound judgements and think critically about what the data and reports are telling us about current practices and trends.
  • The ability to gather information from a variety of sources and articulate findings effectively in oral and print format.
  • Competence using computer systems using window based format with knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and GIS. An ability to adapt to changing technology is essential.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships and work with confidence with all levels of peers, senior administration and operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written, verbal and listening abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience in data analyst best practices, of various government ministries, and on other City operations, is an asset.
  • Project management and planning skills is an asset.

Hours of Work:

75 hours biweekly as scheduled, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
