Customs Coordinator Job at Kelly Services (Canada)

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Customs Coordinator to join our client's team. The Customs Coordinator will be responsible for managing the customs clearance process, handling import and export import/export documentation, and issuing return merchandise authorization approvals. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, and a working knowledge of Customs and NAFTA requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Process entries through the system and classify a range of commodities using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Handle freight release from airlines and ensure payment and required documentation is submitted to carriers and Customs in a timely manner.
  • Interact with broker, customs and domestic carriers to arrange for coordinated handling of shipments from source to delivery.
  • Maintain complete and accurate files (both hard copy and in the computer) for documentation and compliance purposes.
  • Update and maintain all information in the system.
  • Create quotes and handle shipping documentation including bills of lading, shipping labels and export paperwork, Certificates of Origin, and Proforma Invoices.

  • Assist the shipping department as requires, and act as backup shipping/receiving shipping clerk when needed.

About you:

  • 1 to 5 years' experience working with customs and logistics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Working with D365 is an asset
  • Curious mindset to identify gaps on inconsistencies and find answers
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with different teams and departments
  • Great communication and organizational skills
