Role Summary

To use analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets. To use this information to develop data-driven solutions to assist in solving organizational challenges. To have and use various technical skill sets including: statistics, coding languages, databases, machine learning as well as reporting technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with various management teams throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data.
  • Review and analyze data from organizational databases for the purpose of process optimization and business strategy development.
  • Determine the accuracy of new data sources as well as data effectiveness.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use modeling to increase and optimize customer and employee experiences, revenue generation and business outcomes.
  • Develop frameworks for testing purposes.
  • Assist and work with multiple department teams to monitor outcomes and conduct model implementation.
  • Create processes to review and monitor data accuracy
  • Understand, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter
  • Adhere to Modatek’s core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
  • Perform other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master’s in Computer Science or Statistics
  • Minimum Five (5) years Data Scientist experience in IT in an automotive or related manufacturing environment
  • Experience Working with and creating data architectures
  • Knowledge of a various techniques related to machine learning including-artificial network clustering and decision tree learning.
  • Knowledge of SQL Databases including Time Series and Relational, as well as Python, jQuery, JavaScript and C#
  • Strong knowledge and experience with statistical techniques with various applications.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
